RUNNING BOOKS

My latest purchases:

*Waterlogged: The Serious Problem of Overhydration in Endurance Sports, examines widely applied hydration prescriptions for athletes and scrutinizes claims of the sports drink industry that run counter to years of scientific study. (blurb from Amazon)

*In Eat and Run, Jurek opens up about his life and career as an elite athlete, and about the vegan diet that is key to his success. (blurb from Amazon)

The first running book I ever read was Feet in the Clouds by Richard Askwith.

There is a new edition of this book being published this year (2013).  If you have never read it before I urge you to buy it.  I have read many books on running, ultrarunning and endurance sports over the years and this one is still my favourite.

WOMEN'S BOOKS

I am currently awaiting the arrival of Rushing Women's Syndrome by Libby Weaver.

Here's the blurb from the website:
It doesn’t seem to matter if a woman has two things to do in her day or two hundred, she is in a pressing rush to do it all. She is often wound up like a top, running herself ragged in a daily battle to keep up. There is always so much to do, and she very rarely feels like she wins, is in control and gets on top of things. In fact her deep desire to control even the smaller details of life can leave her feeling out of control, even of herself.
Overwhelmed, at times she feels like she can’t cope, whether she admits it out loud or keeps it all inside, adding to her wound up, knotted stomach. She is fortunate if her sex hormones are balanced. Most women in this state suffer terribly with their periods and women who go into menopause in this state usually find it debilitating.

French children don't throw food by Pamela Druckerman.

I'm always open to hear other people's attempts on how to get their children sleeping through the night, eating a balanced diet and behaving well.  It's good to know that most people are trying to figure it out as they go along.
